Opal Homes was founded in 2024 by Bill Vanzin and Lou Bell, two builders brought together by a shared passion for building homes and a common belief: that southwestern Pennsylvania deserves beautiful, high-quality new homes at a price families can actually afford—without sacrificing customization or craftsmanship along the way. Bill brings decades of hands-on experience as a general contractor and 18 years in construction lending, giving him a rare, front-to-back understanding of what it takes to design, finance, and build a home. Lou is a lifelong entrepreneur who founded and ran multiple employment agencies and has personally built two homes of his own. Together, they saw an industry where modular construction was too often misunderstood and true affordability was too hard to find—and they set out to change that.

That’s the idea behind everything we do: modular living, reimagined. We build modular because it’s simply a smarter way to build. Every home is constructed to the same building codes as a site-built home, but the work happens indoors—protected from the weather—which means faster build times and consistent, high-quality results. We take pride in showing our customers what modern modular construction really looks like: durable, customizable,  beautiful and timeless.
